Vivint continues its expansion with new offices in two Maryland locations. The company plans to hire 85 employees in the combined new locations.

Solar provider Vivint Solar isn’t resting on its laurels. Last year, the company climbed to the #2 position among residential solar installers in the U.S. This year has brought announcements of expansion in Massachusetts, New Jersey, and now Maryland.

Vivint already has a presence in Maryland, having first made its offerings available to residents there in January 2013. Today the company announced its expansion into the North Baltimore and Frederick areas. Vivint currently employs more than 100 full-time employees in the Beltsville, Maryland area, and it plans to hire 85 employees in the combined new locations.

According to the Solar Energy Industries Association (SEIA), Maryland is the 14th-largest solar market in the U.S. Vivint’s expansion comes at a time when the U.S. solar market is booming, with record growth for solar PV of 41% last year. Vivint says its growth is indicative of the growing acceptance of residential solar as a mainstream energy source for homeowners.

“Our success in Maryland is evidence of growing demand for residential solar solutions in the state,” said Chance Allred, vice president of sales at Vivint Solar. “We are excited to reach out to the homeowners in the North Baltimore and Frederick areas to offer affordable solar.”
