REC Solar announces it’s appointed Mark Bettis as Vice President of Sales and Marketing. Bettis will lead commercial growth strategy with a focus on the underserved mid-market.

Commercial solar provider REC Solar today announced the appointment of Mark Bettis as Vice President of Sales and Marketing. Bettis will have direct responsibility over developing the company’s commercial partnerships, managing sales operations, and implementing market growth strategy.

Bettis joins REC Solar on the heels of the company’s transition to focus exclusively on the commercial solar market. Bettis will lead commercial growth strategy with a focus on the underserved mid-market — small to medium businesses, nonprofits, and small manufacturing facilities. With his expertise, REC is capitalizing on the market by offering a more standardized installation process, with the help of consumer-financing and design tools.

“Commercial solar is growing rapidly, and REC Solar is well positioned to capitalize on this growth,” said Paul Detering, CEO of REC Solar, who also recently joined the company. “Mark’s extensive sales experience and deep-rooted understanding of the commercial solar industry will be invaluable in helping REC Solar drive growth in such a dynamic market. He’s a valuable addition to the team.”

Bettis brings more than 10 years of solar sales and marketing experience with top commercial brands. Most recently, he served as VP of Sales at SunLink Corporation, a leading manufacturer of racking systems for rooftop and ground mounted solar arrays. Prior to that, Bettis held senior sales roles at Tioga Energy and Delta Products Corporation, where he led the U.S. sales teams, developed partner relationships, and supplied products and financing solutions for a large portfolio of commercial, industrial, and utility solar projects. He has also served as the North American Sales manager at SCHOTT Solar, where he was responsible for over $50 million in annual sales of large-scale solar systems.

“REC Solar’s extensive experience and strong reputation makes it clear that they have what it takes to lead the commercial market,” said Bettis. “I look forward to helping more commercial customers benefit from going solar by making it easier and more cost effective to purchase, lease or host a solar project than ever before.
