Phoenix Solar completes a ground-mount solar facility at Morgan Stanley’s Purchase, New York corporate campus. The installation is expected to provide 5% of the total electricity used at Morgan Stanley’s building, and up to 25% during peak production.

Phoenix Solar, an international PV system integrator, is helping spread solar in New York and other parts of the U.S. The company recently announced the completion of an 823-kW peak ground-mount solar facility on six acres at Morgan Stanley’s corporate campus in Purchase, New York. Phoenix Solar provided all engineering services, procured a portion of the components, and managed the construction of the solar facility.

The ground-mount solar facility is expected to generate approximately 1,000 MWh of electricity per year, offsetting approximately 5% of the total electricity used at Morgan Stanley’s building, and up to 25% during peak production. The installation consists of more than 3,000 solar panels.

The project was partially funded by Governor Andrew Cuomo’s NY-Sun initiative, which is substantially expanding solar adoption in New York State. Funding was provided through the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA).

“Morgan Stanley’s solar project highlights the opportunity for large corporations under Governor Cuomo’s NY Sun initiative to reduce their energy costs while demonstrating their commitment to protecting the environment,” said John B. Rhodes, President and CEO of NYSERDA. “At the same time, this project expands New York State’s clean energy economy and increases the availability of clean, renewable energy, making it a model that we hope other corporations will follow.”

“The successful and on-time completion of this solar installation for Morgan Stanley … demonstrates our strong commitment to partner with industry leaders throughout North America to deliver cost-efficient and sustainable solar energy,” said Dr. Murray Cameron, CEO and President of U.S.-based Phoenix Solar Inc., and Executive Board Member of parent company Phoenix Solar AG, based in Germany.

Other large solar projects completed in the U.S. by Phoenix Solar have included a 38.6 MW solar facility in Georgia and a 9.5 MW ground-mount solar park at the LEED Platinum Volkswagen auto plant in Tennessee — the largest solar facility at an auto factory in the United States. Phoenix Solar has also recently installed other solar projects throughout the U.S., including parking canopies, custom-designed top-level parking garage systems, and rooftop and ground-mount facilities.
